Eyelid Surgery Austin
Sagging or droopy eyelids are a tell-tale sign of aging and can make an individual appear tired or older than their actual years. Eyelid surgery provides a younger, fresher look for many patients seeking to enhance their confidence.
Is Eyelid Surgery Right for You?
If drooping eyelid-skin is giving you a tired appearance, consider refreshing your face with eyelid surgery. Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can restore a rested, more youthful appearance. Ideal candidates are healthy non-smokers without serious eye conditions who have a positive outlook and a realistic expectation of what can be achieved through the surgery.
The Eyelid Surgery Procedure
Prior to the procedure, anesthesia will be administered for your comfort. An incision will be made along the natural crease of the upper eyelid to allow repositioning of fat tissue, tightening of muscle tissue and removal of any excess skin. With the lower eyelid, the incision is made just below the lash line. In some cases, a chemical peel may be used to remove any discoloration.
As with any surgery, patients should be aware of possible risks, complications and side effects. Risks include scarring, bruising, temporarily blurred vision, dry eyes, difficulty closing the eyes, drooping, bleeding, infection, blood clots, numbness, pain, discoloration and loss of eyesight. Patients should also be aware of risks associated with anesthesia or allergic reactions to medications.
Patients may return to light, normal activity within a few days of surgery. It may take several weeks to achieve final results and up to a year for incision lines to fully refine.
A follow-up visit will be needed to evaluate results and monitor healing. Your follow-up appointment will be scheduled at the time of your surgery.
