Aesthetic Nose Surgery Austin
The nose is the most prominent feature of the face and can have a major impact on overall appearance. If you’re unhappy with the nose you were born with—or if you’ve injured your nose and want to restore its former glory—then aesthetic nose surgery may be an option.
Is Aesthetic Nose Surgery Right for You?
A nose that is misshapen, bulbous or out-of-proportion detracts from facial harmony. If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your nose or would like to realize a distinctive new look, then aesthetic nose surgery may be your solution.
The Aesthetic Nose Surgery Procedure
Every nose is different—and so is every nose surgery. In consultation with you, Dr. Hall will identify the unique characteristics of your nose and determine the best course of action to achieve the desired result. The surgery may involve altering or reshaping the nasal bridge, reducing nose width, reshaping the nasal tip, decreasing nostril size or adjusting the angle between the nose and lip. In the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision in the nose and sculpts, removes or shapes tissue within the nasal area. The process may involve using cartilage grafts from other areas of the body. Splints and packing may be used to support the nose during the healing process.
Aesthetic nose surgery, like any surgery, involves certain risks. Patients will be advised of possible risks, side effects and complications during consultation prior to their surgery. Risks include nosebleeds, infection, rupture of blood vessels, scarring, bruising, pain, improper healing, unintended results, problems with anesthesia and allergic reactions to medication.
Though swelling, bruising and discomfort are common following the procedure, patients usually resume light, normal activities within a few days. Packing and splints are removed in a week or two and patients generally return to work at this time. Bruising will remain evident but can be concealed with cosmetics as healing continues over several weeks. The nose must be diligently protected from sunlight and impact for four to six months. Final results will take about a year to fully realize.
Follow-up visits are necessary to evaluate results and monitor healing. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled at the time of your surgery. In some cases, additional surgeries may be necessary to achieve the desired result.
