The face you put forward tells Austin a lot about you—and the way you feel about yourself. Facelift surgery can provide a firmer, more youthful look for those seeking added confidence in their appearance.
If you’re concerned about sagging tissue, wrinkles and loss of elasticity in your face, then a facelift could be right for you. A facelift can reduce wrinkles and minimize the effects of age that can cause an individual to appear tired or unhappy due to loose skin in the mid-face, jaw line and neck.
The facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a highly individualized procedure that can produce a younger, more energetic appearance in many individuals. Dr. Jeffrey Hall, in consultation with you, will evaluate the best options for achieving the desired results. The facelift does not change a person’s basic appearance but seeks to reveal a younger version of the person. In most cases, the procedure involves making incisions at the hairline, around the ear and in the lower scalp. An additional incision beneath the chin may be used to diminish loose neck-skin. Fat is then sculpted or repositioned within the face to enhance the appearance of the recipient and the incision lines are hidden within the hairline and natural contours of the face.
While facelifts are common procedures, patients should be aware of possible risks and side effects. Risks include infection, bruising, swelling, bleeding beneath the skin, nerve injury, scarring, correctible hair loss at the point of incision, numbness, risks associated with anesthesia and allergic reactions to medications.
Patients should expect swelling and discoloration immediately following the surgery but light activity can resume within a few days. Incisions should heal in the first week after surgery. In most cases, individuals resume work in two to four weeks using cosmetics to diminish any remaining bruising. The healing process will continue for several weeks and final effects may take up to six months to be realized.
Follow up appointments with your plastic surgeon will be necessary to evaluate results and check your progress. A follow-up appointment will be scheduled at the time of your surgery.
